Pierre Röscher

Pierre Röscher is a registered physiotherapist with a special interest in male pelvic health, prostate cancer and musculoskeletal conditions, and holds working rights in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Pierre qualified in 2008 from the University of Witwatersrand and began working in musculoskeletal private practice in Pretoria after his community service year. He completed a Sports Physiotherapy certification (SPT) in 2010, and an Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy certification (OMTC) in 2011.

He subsequently assisted and eventually lectured on the OMTC from 2013-2019. He has completed postgraduate courses in Pain, Medical Communication, Pain intervention, Exercise for Pain, Women’s Health, Male Pelvic Pain, Prostate Cancer and Diagnostic Ultrasound.

Pierre completed his Masters in Physiotherapy in 2017, and is currently completing his PhD in Clinical Medicine specialising in Urology with a special focus on sexual dysfunction related to prostate cancer.

Pierre is in the process of publishing a series of papers on sexual dysfunction in prostate cancer, and has published three papers so far:

- Mapping the prevalence of the neglected sexual side effects after prostate cancer treatment and the questionnaires used in their screening: a scoping review protocol

- Mapping the prevalence and use of questionnaires to detect the neglected sexual side effects after prostate cancer treatment: a scoping review.

- A modified Delphi study to identify screening items to assess neglected sexual side-effects following prostate cancer treatment.

Pierre is a past South African chairman for the Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy Group (NMSPG), and represented South Africa on the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT) from 2016-2020. Pierre was been elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the IFOMPT board, being the second South African to ever do so and the youngest board member in history.

Pierre is also one of two physiotherapists that serve on the Medical and Scientific Board of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa.

Pierre teaches online and contact courses on a variety of Men’s health topics.

Pierre sees patients at his outpatient pelvic practice in Brisbane, Australia and also does online consultations.
