Dr Elmari Mulder Craig is one of South Africa’s best-known sexologists and is, with almost 30 years’ experience, a globally recognised authority in the fields of sexuality and relationship wellness and has studied extensively both locally and abroad.


She was one of the first South Africans to obtain the prestigious qualification of European Federation of Sexology (EFS) and European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM) certification, the highest attainable, internationally recognised qualification in Sexology.


Dr Craig also studied under the renowned Prof Domeena Renshaw at the Stricht School of Medicine: Sexual Dysfunction Clinic, in Chicago, USA and received both her Masters and PhD degrees Cum Laude.


She is a former President of The Southern African Sexual Health Association (SASHA) and a former Scientific Advisory Board Member of The African Society for Sexual Medicine (ASSM) as well as former Section Editor (Sexual Health) of The African Journal for Primary Health Care & Family Medicine (AJPHCFM).


She chaired sessions and presented scientific papers at numerous international conferences and is a sought-after speaker who travels nationally and internationally to present talks, workshops and training on sexual and relationship health and wellbeing.


In 2017 she was nominated for The Shine Project as an important and interesting woman in the field of sexual health, empowerment and pleasure in South Africa, shining collective light on sex positive messaging and sexual empowerment.


Dr Craig is the author of two books and two DVD’s and has contributed to 26 other books. She contributes extensively as an expert in her field to online, print, radio and television media. Seks en Jy, a series of 13 talks on the radio station, RSG, was her brainchild and was presented by Martelize Brink with Dr Craig as expert. This show was awarded a Media Veertjie in 2017. Another series on Sexual and Gender Diversity followed in 2022.


She is also a psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist, couple’s therapist, Trauma Incident Reduction Therapist, Emotionally Focussed Therapist and she completed a diploma in Neuropsychology.


She has a special interest in sexual pain disorders, previous trauma (the mind-body connection), couples therapy as well as in assisting couples to reinvent their sexual relationship to enhance connection and intimacy. Her motto is: ‘Love better, Live better!’

Her private practice is situated in Pretoria East, at the state-of-the-art Cintocare Hospital, the first five-star rated, green hospital in Africa. She also consults nationally and internationally, online.
