Lorato is a physiotherapist with a special interest in the management of women’s health conditions, particularly pelvic floor dysfunction. She was in the first Johannesburg group that completed the Women’s Health Physiotherapy Group (WHPG) postgraduate course under the auspices of South African Society of Physiotherapists in 2012. She has since been treating patients with a variety of pelvic floor dysfunctions. These include, but are not limited to, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and anorectal dysfunctions. She also treats pre- and post-natal patients. Her patients include both males and females.

A career highlight of Lorato was a case presentation to Botsogo Multidisciplinary Tumor Board – a team comprising of medical professionals involved in oncology patient care in Botswana. The presentation was done by way of teleconferencing among professionals from three hospitals in Botswana and Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, MA, USA). Her topic was: ‘A 41 year old Female with Sexual Dysfunction following Treatment for Cervical Cancer (Princess Marina Hospital, Gaborone, August 2016)’.  Following this presentation, with the collaborative efforts of their partners in Boston, vaginal dilators have become standard care for all patients receiving pelvic radiation in Botswana.

Lorato is also a member of MSH. She is the first MSH member from Botswana. She believes this multidisciplinary collaboration will be of immense benefit to patients in Botswana.

She has done radio presentations and a conference presentation on the subject of women’s health. She has also written various newspaper articles.
